The vacations and summer are coming to an end, and it is time to start working again. Many may have the feeling that they will now have to struggle for 11 months before it is time for the next leave. How are you supposed to survive until then? Fortunately, there are things you can do to make the return to the workplace more pleasant. Here we present some tips to go from resting to working and reduce some potential work anxiety.

  1. Start slowly.
Be kind to yourself by starting soft the first workdays, if you can. Do simple things first and wait a few days before jumping into big projects and long meetings. The brain is usually a bit sluggish, so don’t fill the first couple of days with long to-do lists, and be content with calmly doing a few tasks.

  2. Schedule time for yourself
Another tip is to schedule a meeting with yourself in the first few days. In peace, you go through what was done before the vacation bit by bit, clear your mailbox, and plan for the autumn. See it as a chance for a fresh start!

  3. Take breaks
Don’t forget to take regular breaks during the working day, it can be anything from standing a bit longer at the coffee machine, walking around the office and cheering on colleagues you haven’t seen in weeks, and varying your working position.

  4. Extend the holiday feeling and continue with summer activities
The summer is not over yet. There are afternoons, evenings and weekends that can be filles with vacation-like activities. How about a dinner with friends, an evening swim, or going for a hike? Also, don’t stop with the good habits you adopted during the summer. Continue to read books, morning workouts or banning social media on your phone. You prolong the summer feeling by making the last of it.

  5. Have fun at work
Our last tip is to plan some fun activities at the workplace with your team during the autumn. It does not have to be anything big, small thing also brings joy. How about a barbercue lunch on a Friday, a health-teem week or a Halloween masquerade? Small things to look forward to!

Remember, going back to work often feels better after a few days. Good luck with the fall semester!
