Green space division in an open dining environment

In the dining area at Aalborg University, students and staff meet every day for meals, breaks and spontaneous conversations. It is a natural gathering place with a lively atmosphere and constant movement – placing high demands on acoustics, circulation and overall comfort. Here, Götessons has contributed to a more pleasant environment through smart space division using greenery. 

For the project, Götessons supplied 50 Plant Dividers with plants that function as natural separators between seating areas in the dining hall. The dividers create clear zones and provide each group with its own space, while preserving the open feel of the room. The textile-covered planters also contribute to effective sound absorption – an important factor in a busy dining environment where many conversations take place simultaneously.

The greenery adds softness and visual warmth to the otherwise restrained architecture, creating a more inviting place to spend time. The result is a dining area where function, acoustics and aesthetics work together to create a calmer, more pleasant and social environment.
