Reuse that creates new acoustic solutions
When a public authority in Umeå needed to adapt its workplace to accommodate fewer workstations, it became necessary to rethink the existing interior. Together with Nattetid Arkitektstudio, a solution was found where existing desk screens were given a completely new life.
The former desk screens were taken care of by Götessons and reupholstered with new fabric. Instead of being reinstalled at the desks, they were mounted vertically and horizontally on the wall as sound absorbers using a suspension rail. In this way, existing products could be reused while also contributing to improved acoustics in the new work environments.
“It was interesting to see how well the absorbers blended into the room and not only contributed to better acoustics but also served a decorative function,” says Erik Nyström, Nattetid.
By upgrading and reusing the existing screens, a sustainable solution was created where materials and resources were preserved, while the premises were given a new visual expression.
